Canwick Class 19/07/22

Due to the very hot weather, this week’s class will now take place on Thursday 21st July instead of Tuesday – I think I’ve managed to contact everyone. Same time, same place just a different day – hopefully see you Thursday!

Catch-up class returns

I’ve now booked another couple of dates for those who want to catch-up on a few of the more popular dances that we’ve not had chance to cover in our regular Tuesday class, I’ve booked the hall for a couple more daytime sessions. These will take place on Friday 22nd and Friday 29th April at Canwick Village Hall from 1.00 to 2.30pm.

I plan to teach 3 dances on the 22nd and then recap these the following Friday with possibly one further new dance that week. Everyone welcome!

Extra class

A big thank you to all who came out to the first in an occasional series of “catch-up” classes. I was pleased with the attendance and I think the dances went down well.

I taught …..

‘TIL YOU CAN’T (Gary O’ Reilly)

FIELDS OF ATHENRY (Maggie Gallagher & Gary O’ Reilly)

WHAT A SONG CAN DO (Heather Barton & Andrew Hayes)

Also danced: – I’ve Seen it All, Bad Habits, Here We Go, Shouting To The Monsters, Cold Heart, In Heaven, and Don’t Break The Heart.

The next one of these sessions is likely to be late March or in April but I will confirm details nearer the time.

Dances taught 2021

21.12.21 Last class of this year and could be the last class for a while if further Covid restrictions are reintroduced. I didn’t teach a new dance this week but we got through plenty of dances, as you can see below. Thanks to everyone for your support this year since we returned in August, and for your lovely cards and presents. Hope everyone has a good Christmas and a happy and healthy 2022.

Danced tonight:  Scotia Samba, Second Hand Heart, Rumba Ride (to Christmas Cookies), Jealousy, Willpower, Shouting To The Monsters, Feel Alright, We’ll Go Dancing, Cold Heart, All I Am Is You, Just A Kiss (to Let It Snow), Train Wreck, The Joker And The Queen, 45 Degrees, Would Have Loved Her, Delicate, Starlights, Dance Before You Leave Me, Faithful Soul, Running On High, Here Goes Nothing, Contigo With Me, Bad Habits, Shivers and I’ve Seen It All.

14.12.21 This was the last new teach class of the year and I ended up teaching not one, but two easier dances – both 32 counts without any tags. Not often this happens nowadays! First off was COLD HEART (Madison Glover) Definitely a bit late to the party with this one as the dance was released back in August. I’d not taught it before thinking it was possibly a bit too easy for my intermediate class but it’s recently been taught by others in the area so we will definitely be seeing out at local socials.

Next up was 45 DEGREES (Ria Vos) Had this one on the pile for a while but had never quite got round to it. Great little dance for this time of year and it won’t take long to recap it when we come back in the New Year.

Also danced: Stitch It Up, I Got You, Codigo (to Driving Home For Christmas), Ribbon Of Highway (to Two Steppin’ Round The Christmas Tree), Evergreen, Shivers, Cold Heart, Would Have Loved Her, Feel Alright, Here We Go, Here Goes Nothing, Shouting To The Monsters, Contigo With Me, Smokey Places (to Ruldolph The Red Nosed Reindeer), Starlights, Slam Goes The Door, Running On High, Don’t Break The Heart, The Joker And the Queen, I’ve Seen It All, Bad Habits and My Superpower.

07.12.21 FEEL ALRIGHT (Neville Fitzgerald & Julie Harris) This is the last intermediate dance I’m teaching before Christmas. An 8&1 cha cha that despite saying “Higher Intermediate” on the step sheet really isn’t that hard.

Also danced: Vanotek Cha, Nothing But You, She Ain’t Me, Darling Hold My Hand, Superheroes, I’ve Seen It All, Shivers, Don’t Break The Heart, Here We Go, The Joker and The Queen, We’ll Go Dancing, Contigo With Me, Starlights, Running On High, Again and Again, and Here Goes Nothing.

Merry Christmas

Last class of 2021 on Tuesday 21st December. A free night, recapping recently taught dances but not doing a new one. Then 2 weeks off so first class in 2022 is scheduled for 11th January – Covid rules permitting of course!

Thank you for your support since we returned to dancing in August. I hope everyone has a Merry and Safe Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Christmas and New Year Break

There is a FREE class on the 21st December open to all class members. I’ll be recapping the recently taught dances, mixing in a few oldies and maybe playing one or two classics to Christmas tunes. Feel free to wear your Christmas t-shirts or jumpers if you want to. There will be no class on 28th December 2021 or on 4th January 2022, so I’ll see you back at Canwick on 11th January.
